Space Planning & Interior Design
Baylor's Space Planning and Interior Design supports the mission of Baylor University by providing interior space planning and design with all campus departments and colleges. This includes selecting finishes and furniture for campus departments, assisting on design projects with Baylor's Construction Services' project managers, and working with service provider's facilities project managers.

Julie Helton
Director of Space Planning & Interior Design
Julie is a Registered Interior Designer with over 30 years of experience in commercial architecture and interior design. She started working for Baylor University in February 2015. Julie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from Baylor University. As part of the Facilities Management department, Julie is responsible for managing the usage of all space, coordinating space allocations and requests, and evaluating the utilization of space. She oversees the electronic drawing files and plans, facilitates the BIM & FM Standards process for capital projects, and oversees Baylor GIS and CAFM systems.

Abbey Hazel
Campus Interior Designer
Abbey joined Baylor University in 2022. She is NCIDQ certified and a Registered Interior Designer, having experience in both commercial and residential design. Her experience ranges from programming and project design development through construction documentation and administration. Abbey holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Design from Baylor University.

Nate Exley
Geographic Information Systems Manager
Nathan (Nate) joined the Baylor Facilities Management Team in May 2024, coming out of commercial poultry production and emergency management. With a degree in Rangeland Ecology and Management from Texas A&M University and as a certified Project Management Professional, Nate brings a unique blend of expertise to his role as GIS Manager. His passion for regenerative land use and project management background fits naturally into Baylor University's commitment to environmental stewardship and operational excellence. Nate is also a veteran beekeeper of 18 years, avid gardener, husband, and father to three kiddos.

Clint Byrom
Campus Space Records Technician
Clint joined the Baylor Facilities Management department in June 2023. He is responsible for verifying and maintaining all building plans for Baylor University. He received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2006.
Clint has worked in several architecture firms in Dallas/Fort Worth and Waco. Specializing in projects for commercial, higher education, retail, municipal, religious, and single-family. His skills include performing site verifications, producing plans for both new construction and renovations/additions, 3D modeling, accessibility requirements, and construction administration. Prior to working at Baylor, Clint started his own residential design company producing complete architectural sets for home builders and individual clients. His qualities allow him to verify, manage, and distribute construction documents to various Facilities Management personnel, other Baylor University departments, and third-party consultants.
